Journal / Recovery

More work is not always more progress.

Recovery is training, too.

A planned rest day and an occasional deload are part of the routine—not evidence that the routine failed.

For a long time, resting felt like doing nothing. Training made it easier to understand that recovery is where the work becomes something my body can actually use.

Wednesday is my regular rest day. I eat normally, move through the rest of my life, and let my joints and muscles catch up. The following session usually feels better because I did not try to prove anything on the day before it.

Every so often, I also reduce the workload for a short deload. It is not dramatic. I simply use less resistance, fewer demanding sets, or more patience than usual.

The goal is not to collect the most exhausted days. The goal is to build a routine I can return to next week, next month, and next year.

A rest day is not outside the plan. It is one of the reasons the plan can continue.
